Burn centers have been flooded with clout chasers.

"The Boiling Water Challenge" comes as advertised. As medical practitioners across the United States would like us to know, tossing boiling water into the air and wincing as it falls on your face, is as dangerous as it looks. As CNN has indicated, although the challenge is every bit the "interesting science experiment" it sets out to be, more often than not, its participants end up in the ICU.

Eight different individuals who took part in the challenge have been treated at the burn centers of Chicago's Loyola University Medical Center, according to Chris Vicik, the director of media relations for the triage. Vicik cited injuries to the "feet, arms, hands, face, and varying degrees of burns, as well," in her incident report.

For some reason, a majority of the accidents pertaining to "The Boiling Water Challenge" have taken place in the greater Chicago area. The Loyola University wasn't the lone medical facility in the MidWest to accept "Boiling Water" dimwits. The University of Iowa Burn Treatment Center in Iowa City has also opened its doors to the socially inept movement - where a couple of people were treated in "recent weeks." When it's 20 below outside, the devil comes in many shapes and sizes.
