The White House Correspondents Dinner announced that they will be ending the tradition of having a comedian roast the sitting President and their administration, replacing the segment with a lecture by historian and biographer Ron Chernov. The move comes after last year's dinner, where the president got roasted perhaps a little too much by Michelle Wolf. As a commenter on our last article(greenman394) about his put it, "did Home girl really damage y'all that bad?"
Many are wondering if this will every happen again and if so, who will do it. TMZ went to ask Kevin Hart if he'd be interested. They caught him while he was volunteering at the Los Angeles Misson, apron and all. When asked if he'd do it, he said: "You know what, I will say 100 percent no," but "what I will do is spread positivity at all times, on all levels."
For those who are worried that the even is ruined, Ron Chernov had some reassuring words:
The White House Correspondents’ Association has asked me to make the case for the First Amendment, and I am happy to oblige. Freedom of the press is always a timely subject and this seems like the perfect moment to go back to basics. My major worry these days is that we Americans will forget who we are as a people and historians should serve as our chief custodians in preserving that rich storehouse of memory. While I have never been mistaken for a stand-up comedian, I promise that my history lesson won’t be dry.
