Nasir Jones opened up to the once-satirical late night host.

Nas was on Stephen Colbert's The Late Show last night to promote his new album. The Queensbridge emcee has been noticeably quiet since his Kanye-produced project dropped in June to a moderate-high reception. Nas told Colbert that he never imagined isolating himself in a milieu like Wyoming to record a one-off project, but alas he did.

He did however credit the Wyoming people with being completely hospitable in the wake of their unsolicited appearance. Aside from the warm reception, they (his and Kanye, among others) receiving by the humans they came into contact with. a wounded moose also drew their attention, unfortunately, they were too "city smart" to assist.

Nasir explained his willingness to stay relevant as a contemporary rapper, as the epitome of treating the medium as an "art form," which thus allowed him to relapse back into love, after declaring hip hop "dead" some years ago.

Colbert let his voice carry as he cheekily showed off his knowledge of Nas' debut record Illmatic, and several other touchstone moments throughout the interview.

Nas was also kind enough to perform NASIR cut "Adam & Eve" before The Late Show audience, with the backing of singer Jon Batiste and DJ Green Lantern behind the decks. This is the first performance of its kind, barring the call appear before festival crowds to ring out the year. Nas and Santigold were both subsequently dropped from Lauryn Hill's Miseducation 20-Year Tour.
