Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy still stands as one of his greatest bodies of work in his catalog. Some might even argue it's one of the best albums that have dropped, period. The project brought together so many different talents from OG's like Raekwon and Pete Rock to helping introduce Nicki Minaj on "Monster." To this day, her verse is not only the best on that particular song but it could be argued that's one of her strongest verses to date. However, it looks like it may have not happened without the help of Amber Rose.
Amber Rose recently joined Peter Rosenberg on Complex's Open Late where they discussed everything from love to motherhood. At one point, Peter brings up Amber Rose's relationship with Nicki Minaj and revealed that she told Kanye West to add Nicki Minaj to the song. Although reluctant at first, Kanye took to Amber's suggestion and was thoroughly impressed by the outcome of Nicki Minaj's contribution.
"I believed in Nicki from the beginning. I was with Kanye at the time and I was like, 'Kanye, you gotta give her a shot like she's amazing,'" she recalled. Amber continued to advocate for Nicki even though Kanye was hesitant but she eventually convinced 'Ye.
"He tried it out and he put her on 'Monster.' He was like, 'damn, she fuckin' killed that shit.'" she said.
Amber's efforts were later acknowledged on the verse. Amber said that Nicki slipped in a very subtle shout out to her on the track when she rapped, "I think me, you and Am should ménage Friday."
Peep the full interview below. Amber speaks on her relationship with Nicki around the 16:25 mark.
