There's no denying that 2013 turned out to be a big year for the genre of hip-hop-- we received albums from legends in the game like Kanye West and Jay Z, highly anticipated solo projects from Pusha T and Juicy J, Kendrick Lamar blew up, and we became familiar with independent emcees like Chance The Rapper and Danny Brown. Now that 2013 has come to a close, Mac Miller hypothesizes that we are currently at one of the peaks of the culture, similar to the golden age in the '80s and '90s.
During a recent interview with The Star, Mac reflected on the rap game's status, praising his colleagues.
"Artists right now are making some of my favourite music in hip hop that’s ever been made," Mac shared with them. "I think that in many years this year will be looked back on as a very special time and there hasn’t been anything that as a movement has been as big as this since the quote-unquote Golden Age."
