Bill Cosby departs the Montgomery County Courthouse on the first day of sentencing in his sexual assault trial on September 24, 2018 in Norristown, Pennsylvania.
Cosby is officially in the sex offender system.

Bill Cosby is sitting in a Philadelphia courtroom right now sweating bullets. As I'm sure you are well aware, the disgraced comedian was convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand back in April. The assault took place in 2004, and was one of the only sexual assault allegations that prosecutors could take to trial against Cosby. Although dozens upon dozens of women claim Cosby assaulted them, most of their cases fell outside of the statue of limitations.

Cosby's sentencing took place on Monday (September 24), and today. He faces a maximum penalty of up to ten years per charge, which he has three of. There is no minimum penalty for the charges though, and his defense is fighting for a house arrest sentencing. Prior to revealing the penalty, a judge ruled that Cosby is a sexually violent predator. The comedian's defense attempted to argue against the SVP label, claiming that Cosby is too old to hurt anyone anymore. Psychologist Kristen Dudley testified on Monday though, arguing that Cosby suffers from a mental disease that causes him to seek out the thrill of sexually assaulting women after drugging them.

The sexually violent predator label means that Cosby must register with state police and inform the community of his whereabouts. His name will appear on the sex-offender registry, and residents of the area will be able to track Cosby. He must also undergo mandatory counseling for the rest of his life. We'll keep you updated when a judge hands down his final sentencing, which should occur today as well.
