Avery's fight continues.

If you were one of the millions of Americans that became enraptured by the story of Steven Avery, your time is now. Netflix has announced that after three years of waiting, Part 2 of Making a Murderer is finally set to touch down. The true crime docuseries will dive back into Avery's second fight for freedom. In the first season, Avery was released from jail after DNA evidence overturned a sexual assault and attempted murder conviction from 1985. Then, in 2005, Avery was convicted of murdering Teresa Halbach. A confession from his mentally delayed nephew Brendan Dassey placed both men behind bars, although the confession has been a point of contention for many.

Series creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos gave Variety a short summary on what to expect for the upcoming Part 2. “Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice,” Ricciardi and Demos stated. “Building on Part 1, which documented the experience of the accused, in Part 2, we have chronicled the experience of the convicted and imprisoned, two men each serving life sentences for crimes they maintain they did not commit. We are thrilled to be able to share this new phase of the journey with viewers.” Making a Murderer Part 2 premieres on October 19.
