So far this year, GoldLink has dropped off two new tracks. One that premiered on A Colors Show titled "Justine's Interlude" that was dedicated to his friend Justine Skye, who we now know is his new leading lady. The second was one that I still have on my playlists, "Got Muscle" featuring Peewee Longway.
The 2019 music moves did not come without a plan since the Washington-bred rapper announced this past weekend that an album will be coming this year. GoldLink, born D'Anthony Carlos, hit the stage for Soulection Experience in Los Angeles and told a crowd of 5,000 adoring fans that the tape is definitely in the works, DJ Booth reports.
That wasn't the only gift of the night, GoldLink even welcomed Pusha T on stage to perform "Don't Like" and "If You Know, You Know." GoldLink's new album will be a follow-up to 2017's At What Cost featuring bangers such as "Crew" and "Her Side Story."
"I didn’t realize how much it meant to people until I was home more. Just walking around people will say, ‘Why are you here!?’ Surprised, but they respect that I live here. A nigga that sees me walking around all the time will stop me and tell me how much respect he has that I didn’t leave and to keep going," GoldLink previously stated when discussing why he still calls DC his home.
"Every time I go out someone is telling me something encouraging. The city needs a nigga they can see, a nigga that they can feel. They need to be able to look him in the eyes and see if that’s who they want to represent them. Huey Newton was for the people by the people, that’s how DC is. I gotta be at the go-gos, I gotta show my face, I gotta be in the hood―I have to."
