Avengers: Endgame is hyped to say the least. Though the fates of Spider-Man and Black Panther have been spoiled by impending sequels, let us suspend our disbelief for a moment. Last we saw in Infinity War, the "Mad Titan" Thanos actually managed to pull off his plan, decimating fifty percent of the world's population in a single snap. While Spidey was letting out a terrified "Mr. Stark," Thanos found himself planning his dream vacation destinations. Suffice it to say, things are not looking good for the surviving heroes. Peep the official synopsis for confirmation:
"After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War(2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store."
The last phrase, in particular, seems notably ominous. "Whatever consequences" suggests desperation, and desperation often leads to dead heroes. After all, we've already seen Tony Stark move to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Is history doomed to repeat itself? We won't have to wait much longer to find out.
