The promotional singles from Nicki Minaj's warm-up to 2014's Pinkprint remain some of her best songs to date, most notably, her freestyle over PTAF's "Boss Ass Bitch." While the song is sometimes forgotten by casual fans due to it not appearing on an album, Drake has brought Nicki's ferocious verses back to our attention with a sample on his track "That's How You Feel."
As you can likely tell, the sample does not come from the original "Boss Ass Bitch" recording, but from a live performance, specifically, Nicki's set at Powerhouse 2014, which she reminded fans of in a post to Instagram today.
In the clip, Nicki can be seen reciting bars from the song acapella, making it easy for producer Noel Cadastre to splice the sample into the song.
Drake and Nicki, being Young Money labelmates, have collaborated on numerous occasions. Most recently, Drake appeared on her Remy Ma diss track "No Frauds." Prior to that, they worked together on tracks including "Moment For Life," "Up All Night," "Make Me Proud," "Only," and "Truffle Butter." With Nicki's Queen album due out August 10th, it is likely we will get yet another collaboration from the two.
"That's How You Feel" appears on Drake's new studio album Scorpion. Stream it here.
