Cyberpunk 2077 was announced way back in 2012 by CD Projekt Red, but has faced major delays. The post-apocalyptic video game is adapted from 1988 tabletop game Cyberpunk 2020, and is rumored to launch on the next generation of video gaming consoles. Not many gamers are entirely sure why the game has been delayed for so long, but they're even more uncertain as to why Kanye West is interested in the game.
Kanye only follows 22 people on Twitter. The list of his followers features artists he has collaborated with and public figures he draws inspiration from, including Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. That's why it seems out of place that 'Ye would follow the page for Cyberpunk 2077. The game is pretty obscure, and mainstream gamers may have never heard of it.
The first clue as to 'Ye's interest in the game may come from another page he is following. West follows Ken Xyro, who is a famous streamer and a fan of the Cyberpunk 2077 game. It's possible that 'Ye's fandom grew from an interaction with the streamer, but why only follow this one game instead of Xyro other favorite titles?
Gamers are beginning to speculate that West has some type of involvement with the game, although their contemplations lack proof. With Kanye's mind always in the future, is it possible that the dystopian video game just caught his attention? Or is 'Ye secretly helping to mold a next-gen video game?
