Shelley Malil is an actor famous for playing Aziz in 40-Year-Old Virgin alongside Steve Carell. According to reports, Shelley is set to be released from prison after being sentenced for stabbing his girlfriend 23 times and nearly killing her in 2010. The 53-year-old will be released from the Chuckawalla Valley State Prison in Blythe, Calfornia after a reassessment of his case thinks he poses no risk of committing violence in the future.
The stabbing happened after Shelley came home and found his girlfriend, Kendra Beebe, having wine one the patio with another man. Kendra responded to the publication via text message saying she as "shocked" by the decision and calls the system "broken."
“Today, these men had a chance to take real action showing that we, as a society, value women and will protect them,” Kendra wrote. “For this I am sad because of their inaction, I will continue to live in fear.”
“I am fully invested in my rehabilitation, and I never want to create another victim again,” Shelley told the court, adding how he takes “full responsibility for everything I did.” He will be released in two weeks and remain on supervised parole for five years.
