Los Angeles Laker All-Star, and noted horror fan, LeBron James is reportedly in talks to produce a "Friday The 13th" reboot. According to Bloody Disgusting, LeBron and Maverick Carter's Springhill Entertainment media company is currently in talks with Vertigo Entertainment to produce the new Jason Vorhees film.
As Bloody Disgusting notes, "This news comes on the heels of original Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller prevailing out of a lengthy legal battle in which U.S. District Court Judge Stefan Underhill granted summary judgment in favor of Miller and against the producers, Horror, Inc. While the latter is appealing, Miller currently has the U.S. rights to Friday the 13th, which include the locations and characters within the story."
LeBron has shown his love for horror films over the years, including last Halloween when he dressed up as Pennywise from Stephen King's "IT." Years ago, Bron tweeted that Vorhees is one of his favorite horror characters and even collaborated with Nike on a special "Friday The 13th" version of the Nike LeBron 15.
Prior to a Friday the 13th game back in January of 2017 LeBron told reporters, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
“But I’m a huge horror fan. I love horror movies. Obviously Friday the 13th being Jason Vorhees day, I think it’s cool. I remember as a kid on Friday the 13th right when I got home from school, my mother and I we would just watch horror movie after horror movie after horror movie. It’s crazy because now my kids love horror movies too. My two boys love them. When I come home they be wanting to watch horror movies. But no superstitions besides just having a great respect for some of the great slashers of all time, some of the greatest ones of all time. And Freddy (Krueger), Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees and Chucky and a couple more.”
