Meek Mill's efforts in activism will be honored at Billboard's inaugural R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Event.

For the first few months of 2018, everyone was calling on Meek Mill's freedom after he was incarcerated for violating probation. After he was released from prison, the rapper became the face for justice reform and now, he's on a mission to free a million people from the criminal justice system. There's no doubt that his efforts haven't gone unnoticed and Meek is now set to be honored by Billboard for his activism this Thursday.

Billboard announced that they'll be honoring Meek Mill with the inaugural R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Impact Award at the first annual R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Event. CNN's Van Jones will be presenting Meek Mill with the award. Meek's efforts in shining a light on the need for justice reform, his creative output and the strength he has shown while incarcerated earlier this year are some of the reasons why he'll be receiving this award.

Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Event is a celebratory event to honor the influencers and individuals driving the culture forward. The event is meant to recognize the Top 100 artists as well as the executives who've helped influence the state of hip-hop culture today.

Quality Control's Kevin "Coach K" Lee and Pierre "Pee" Thomas, will also be honored at the event for their influence on the hip-hop industry due to the success of Migos, Lil Baby, City Girls, and Stefflon Don.
