Police in Annapolis, Maryland responded to a shooting that took place Thursday afternoon at the headquarters of the Capital Gazette newspaper. According to an account posted by reporter and Gazette employee Phil Davis on Twitter, the gunman opened fire on employees through a glass door that led to the office.
“Can’t say much more and don’t want to declare anyone dead, but it’s bad,” Davis wrote on Twitter as he waited to be interviewed by police. “There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you’re under your desk and then hear the gunman reload.”

He added: "Those fatalities are so sad and I don't know what to say except our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families and we take comfort knowing they're in God's embrace."
According to Lt. Ryan Frashure of the county’s police department, the building has since been cleared and the suspect is in custody, being interviewed by detectives.
