It looks like Wile E. Coyote is getting his own movie. The Looney Tunes antagonist, who has spent the last several decades chasing the Road Runner, is being eyed for a big screen debut. According to Variety, Warner Bros. is currently developing Coyote Vs. Acme, an animated film starring Wile E. Coyote. Lego Batman director Chris McKay is set to produce.
Wile E. Coyote first appeared in 1949 in “Fast and Furry-ous,” where he tried to capture his perpetual enemy. Every time Wile. E. Coyote tries to capture the Road Runner, he uses devices purchased from Acme. The devices almost always malfunction, leaving Wile. E Coyote in a tough situation. The films name, Coyote Vs. Acme, appears to be a nod at Wile finally standing up to the corporation that has caused his distress for years and years. It's possible that when Wile comes into contact with the workers of the company, all hell breaks loose.
Wile E. Coyote has mostly been speechless throughout his long career, so it will be interesting to see how they pull off a full movie centered around the character. Jon and Josh Silberman, who have written on Bordertown, Deadbeat, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, will pen the script for Coyote Vs. Acme.
