One of the suspects related to the murder of XXXTentacion will be evaluated for his competency. Michael Boatwright’s lawyer argued that this aspect of his character has yet to confirmed as viable in the context of the criminal trial. He claims the defendant may be ill-equipped to "communicate pertinent facts of the case." Circuit Court Judge Michael Usan has since ordered an evaluation.
Another defendant, Robert Allen appeared in court Friday, October 19, and waived his right to a speedy trial. This option is routinely used by suspects in efforts to build their defense.
On June 18, XXXTentacion whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy entered RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The rapper was toting a Louis Vuitton duffle bag full of $50 000. An SUV carrying 4 people pulled into the shop's parking lot. Allen and another suspect Dedrick Williams exited the vehicle and entered the shop, walking past the rapper. After an unconfirmed amount of time, the pair left ahead of X.
Legal authorities claim the suspects remained in the parking lot for approximately 10 minutes waiting for the Onfroy who was then blocked once inside his car. Law enforcement says Boatwright and Trayvon Newsome robbed the rapper at gunpoint while Allen and Williams waited inside the Dodge Journey.
Boatwright’s competency evaluation results will be read in court on October 25.
