If you're looking for a blue check on Instagram but aren't sure how to get one, the platform has made it a whole lot easier to apply. As of today, Instagram has introduced an option within users accounts to request verification.
As the Verge reports, you can now head to Settings within the app and simply tap "request verification." From there, you'll fill out a short form with your account name, your full name and your legal or business ID. Instagram will then get back to over whether or not you have been accepted or rejected.
The update also comes with new security features, including allowing third-party authenticator apps like Google Authenticator and DUO Mobile to work with Instagram.
There's also an "about this account" feature rolling out on bigger profiles. Accounts with large followings will now display when they joined Instagram, their country location, and recent username changes. Instagram says of the changes: “Our community has told us that it’s important to them to have a deeper understanding of accounts that reach many people on Instagram.” This is a reaction to Facebook's promise to take additional measures to stop fake news and misleading accounts.
