In what can only be described as the 2nd most peculiar guest spot in A$AP Ferg wide-ranging catalog, "Redlight" begins in a futuristic landscape brought to life by NGHTMRE's desolate expression. The EDM producer's foray into rap is absolutely enhanced by Fergie's ability to assume an unapologetic character on the song - the likes of which you'd find looting a town without a deputy to give it order.
NGHTMRE spoke to Complex about how the collaboration came to be, and why he chose A$AP Ferg amid all the options. "ASAP Ferg is one of the hip-hop icons I've always dreamed of working with," NGHTMRE said. "It took a lot of time and effort to really make this record come together, but throughout the process, I've gained even more respect for Ferg and his vision."
What NGHTMRE is alluding to when he says "took a lot of time" relates to the years it took for the song to come together. The process is pretty well-documented across the Internet, specifically in EDM forums. Although he might seem like small fish compared to the A$AP Mob, NGHTMRE is actually kind of a big deal within his own gilded community. Don't believe me, check out the production value on this music video.
Quotable Lyrics:
Any beef come to me get sautéed
Yeah, the fake ones runnin' with the hard face
Bet that pump to your tongue make your heart race
And I hope you take it all the wrong way
Leave you slumped near the pump, near the bar place
This red light put your ass in a dark place.
