Eddie Murphy is 57 years old, but that's not stopping him from mounting a comeback. The veteran comedian has been quiet lately, and his last film was in 2016. Even at that time, Murphy wasn't helming any major projects, and 2011's Tower Heist may be his most recent big film. This year, Murphy has been working silently to get his career back on track, and he is currently set to play Rudy Ray Moore in the Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name. Now, Variety is reporting that Murphy has signed on to star in a remake of the classic comedy Grumpy Old Men.
The original film was released in 1993 and starred Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. Lemmon and Matthau played neighbors who were competing for the attention of an attractive professor played by Ann-Margret. The comedy was a success at the box office, and spawned a sequel called Grumpier Old Men two years later. Tim Story is set to direct the film. Story is famous for helming the first two Fantastic Four films, Think Like a Man and Think Like a Man Too, Ride Along and Ride Along 2, Barbershop, and is set to direct a new Shaft film and the third Ride Along movie.
