Nike's Kobe Protro series, which began with a retooled version of the Nike Kobe 1, will continue later this month with the release of the Nike Kobe IV Protro.
Nike today announced the return of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV "Draft Day," which will release on February 15 via SNKRS North America, nike.com and at select global retailers.
The Nike Kobe IV originally released in 2009 as Kobe Bryant spearheaded the movement of NBA players wearing low-top sneakers on the court.
Per Nike:
"The tech in the original shoe was futuristic for its time. Its Flywire construction that used thin, strong nylon fibers to support the upper, had debuted a year prior in the Nike Hyperdunk (the silhouette Bryant wore in Beijing in 2008). LunarLite foam in the forefoot, a Zoom Air unit in the heel and a full-length Phylon midsole provided responsive cushioning."
The 2019 Nike Zoom Kobe IV Protro takes a '96 draft day colorway, inspired by the Charlotte Hornets' color scheme, and adds some updated performance features, such as an adjusted vamp shape, a sleeker heel shape, wider outsole traction and a full-length Zoom Air unit.
