Narin echoes fans' sentiments about Sheeran's guest appearance.

Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn recently sat down with the Huffington Post to speak about his experience on the blockbuster HBO series that has captivated millions of viewers globally. During the interview, the publication probed the actor, who made a tearful exit from the show in the season six, about the diverse roster of guests who have made appearances throughout the years.

Nairn concedes that he is "not a fan" of the show's cameos. "I don’t like them. I think it’s stupid. I don’t mind going on the record on that. I just think it takes you right out of the world."

Case in point: Ed Sheeran, who was featured in the season seven premiere, situated amongst a campfire and mingling with a gaggle of Lannister soldiers. Nairn questioned "‘why is Ed Sheeran here?’ I mean, Ed Sheeran’s great. He’s a great guy, great musician, but why is he in Game of Thrones?"

Apparently, the show's creators have been trying to get the "Shape of You" crooner to guest star for years in order to surprise Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya Stark and is a huge fan of the platinum-selling musician. Nairn attests that Sheeran's cameo clashed with the series' distinct setting and narrative, revealing "I think most people would agree with me there. It was a big snap to reality. It’s like, ‘What? What?’ It’s a fantasy show. We’re all caught in this amazing world and spend so much time and money and talent to create, and all of a sudden there’s a pop star? What?"

Game of Thrones fans were quick to criticize Sheeran's cameo on Twitter, effectively echoing Nairn's sentiments in a more hyperbolized manner.
