Yesterday evening, NAV fans were treated to a surprise EP called Brown Boy. Those close to the situation will indubitably understand the inferences NAV is making with the title, even at face value.
Before couching himself in the semi-retirement column sometime in January, NAV was making tons of noise in regarding his pioneer status amongst rappers or would-be rappers of Punjabi descent. His self-adulation culminated in a brief discourse on social media where commenters helped expand the discussion to several other names, whilst bestowing him with the credit he deserves within the mainstream.
NAV's manager explained the decision to publish his client's old material, by invoking all the retirement talk first discussed in January. "I’m tired of hunting for @nav hard drive and waiting for him to come out of retirement," wrote his manager on Instagram.
"OK" is the lone track on the EP that features a guest performer, the honors going to Lil Durk, whose verse on "OK" conjures up feelings of entrapment over the kind of Auto-Tune settings you'd come to expect.
Quotable Lyrics:
And I was hangin' in Chiraq, dope on the ave
And if you slidin' with them killers, grab that mask
And she be drivin' on the road, coke in her ass
And that first time robbin' the plug, we ain't comin', no cash
Trackhawk 2018, do the dash.
