The Philadelphia 76ers are pushing their chips all in this year. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 76ers just acquired Tobias Harris from the LA Clippers in a monster trade. The Clippers are sending over Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, & Mike Scott in exchange for Landry Shamet , Wilson Chandler, a 2020 first round draft pick, a 2021 unprotected first round pick via Miami, AND 2 second rounders.
Harris is going into free agency this Summer, and the Clippers reportedly wouldn’t been able to pay him a max-level contract, ultimately getting nothing in return for his departure. Therefore, the trade allows the Clippers to receive some value for him.
With the trade, the 76ers are now looking to be front runners for the Eastern division. They’ll have nearly 4 all-stars on the court at the same time with Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler and now Tobias Harris.
While they're still not quite at the Warriors level yet, the 76ers are building a nice foundation for a strong playoff push. And Woj is reporting that the 76ers are planning to keep all 4 on the team intact for years to come too.
We’ll continue to keep you posted on further trades in the NBA as the deadline nears tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned.
