New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has experienced issues with cramping this season and has required an IV just to stay hydrated enough to remain on the field. During the Giants' Week 6 loss last Thursday, Beckham walked to the locker room before the final play of the first half and later explained it was because he just needed to an IV.
"I was cramping, so I was trying to get an IV," Beckham said, per ESPN. "The halftime break is really only five or 10 minutes. If I can use a couple of extra seconds to go and get an IV and come out, that's really all it was."
Beckham also left early during the team's Week 4 loss to the Saints because he was dehydrated again and needed an IV. Clearly, he needs some high quality H2O in his system. But apparently that's easier said than done.
Speaking with reporters today, OBJ explained that he just flat out doesn't like water.
"I've always cramped, it's just I feel like I'm working harder than I ever have. I really don't like water, I'm trying. I really just don't like it, you know when you get that stomach feeling, it's all slushy. I'm trying to stay hydrated but you know sometimes I just gotta get an IV, it's just necessary. When you're cramping in both calves it's hard to run and make cuts. And if you're cramping and you're dehydrated you're susceptible to something else. I'm trying to stay on top of it the best that I can."
So there you have it. The highest-paid wide receiver in the sport just can't stomach the taste of water and it has prevented him, at times, from staying on the field.
