Ortiz and Sonnen first squared off at Bellator 170 in January 2017. The bout ended in the first round as Ortiz locked in a rear-naked choke, but this time around the UFC Hall of Famer promises to make Sonnen suffer for three rounds.
TMZ Sports recently caught up with the 43-year old MMA legend, who explained that the fight will happen "most likely with Bellator, Scott Coker will make the deal." Furthermore, Ortiz tells TMZ, "I'm gonna smash Chael"... "I'm not gonna choke him. I'm not gonna submit him. I'm gonna smash him."
Ortiz picked up a first-round knockout victory in his last MMA fight back in November, as he pummelled Chuck Liddell in a controversial match that headlined the debut event of Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy MMA. Prior to that, he hadn't fought since defeating Sonnen at Bellator 170. For his career, the former UFC Lightweight champion boasts a record 20–12–1.
Sonnen, 41, last fought in October in the main event of Bellator 208, where he was defeated by Fedor Emelianenko in the second round. Sonnen's career record stands at 31-16-1 heading into the rumored rematch against Ortiz.
