The Weeknd reveals the origins of his name, and talks about the whereabouts of "House Of Balloons".

Following the likes of Chance the Rapper and Big Boi, The Weeknd was the latest artist to partake in Reddit‘s AMA (Ask Me Anything) segment. An open forum, where fans can ask questions directly and get a personal response.

During his session earlier today, Abel talked about where his name “The Weeknd” came from. He also answered questions regarding House Of Balloons and its real location, if there's any. The Toronto singer also dipped a little but into his highly anticipated record with Diplo. Saying it will be a big record for a big album, but not his.

Check out some excerpts and answers from his session:

Where did “The Weeknd” come from? I’ve always wondered.
I left home when I was about 17 dropped out of high school and convinced Lamar to do the same lol. We grabbed our mattresses from our parents threw it in our friends shitty van and left one weekend and never came back home. It was gonna be the title of HOB. I hated my name at the time though so I tried it as a stage name. It sounded cool. I took out the “e” because there was already a canadian band named the weekend (copyright issues).

Is House of Balloons a real place? Where was it?

Whats your collab with Diplo sound like? Any idea who’s project it will be on?
It’s going to be a big record for a big album. Not mine though. And it’s a collab with another singer. No more info!! Lol
