"L.A.'s Finest" starring Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union finally gets picked up.

After a long wait and years of mixed signals, fans are final getting the Bad Boys content they've been waiting for. Not only is there a new Bad Boys film, but a new TV spin-off has been announced for 2019. Rumours have been circulating for some time, but Charter Communications' Spectrum has now officially picked up thirteen episodes of the show.

The series, set in LA, will be centred on Gabrielle Union's character Syd Burnett from Bad Boys II and her new partner Nancy McKenna played by Jessica Alba. According to Union herself, the show has been a long time in the making and has included a process of "will they or won't they," with the show being picked up and subsequently dropped by NBC, only to be snatched up again months later by Spectrum. Thankfully for Union, the process has finally come to an end and she says "cannot wait for you to watch @jessicaalba and I kick ass and take names!"

After a similar history of flip-flopping lasting about a decade and leading up to Will Smith's 2016 claim that Bad Boys 3 is "definitely" happening, the movie version of Bad Boys is also set for release, but one year later than the TV spinoff. The film will be called Bad Boys For Life and is set to be released on January 17th of 2020, starring more battered, middle-aged and down and out versions of Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey. Now that fans of the series have been given not just a sequel, but a spin-off, what's next? Maybe a cross-over?
