Ever since LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers and joined the Los Angeles Lakers, he's been receiving more hate than usual from many die-hard Kobe Bryant fans. While sensible Lakers fans realize this will be the best season the team has had since Kobe was healthy, others choose to spew hatred because of their own personal emotions. Bryant is a man of facts. He's a man who is built to win, and that is the only thing that matters to him on the court. The Laker legend sat down on The Rich Eisen Show this past week to discuss his life since retiring from the NBA, and of course, LeBron James came up.
Eisen asked Kobe if he had heard about his fans that are trashing LeBron's name (and also his mural). "I hear that," Bryant commented about the LeBron hatred. "But listen, if you're a fan of mine, you're a fan of winning, you're a fan of the Lakers. I bleed purple and gold. So, that is above anything else. I have been a Lakers fan since I was yay high. That is never going to change, right? It's about winning championships. So, they'll fall in line." Eisen then asks what LeBron needs to do to be viewed, or respected, in the same way Kobe is in Los Angeles.
"I don't know, making the comparisons of him being viewed in the similar vein as me, that doesn't make much sense," Bryant answered. "I think the goal is always to win championships. No matter where you go, that's the goal. And that's his goal, that is Rob's [Pelinka] goal, that is Magic's [Johnson] goal, Jeanie's [Buss] goal, [Rajon] Rondo. All the guys, [Kyle] Kuzma, Lonzo [Ball], they all want to win championships. So, that is what they are gunning for."
