Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia were brother and sister on screen, and the actors that played them became family in real life too. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher have been best friends since they embarked on the Star Wars journey together in the late 70's. In the latest Star Wars trilogy, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker died, and Han Solo was killed off as well. Although Leia is the only remaining member of the original trio who has survived the wrath of Kylo Ren, Carrie Fisher passed away in 2016.
It was recently announced that Fisher would be featured in Star Wars IX, which is slated to hit theaters next year. Instead of resurrecting her through CGI, like Lucasfilm has done in previous movies with other characters, the movie will use scenes that Fisher shot for The Force Awakens to make sure Leia is involved in the final chapter of the Skywalker saga. Mark Hamill, who will be featured in Star Wars IX deptite being killed off in The Last Jedi, took to Twitter to reveal his feelings on filming without Fisher. "It's bittersweet facing my final chapter without her-She is simply irreplaceable," he wrote. "I'm finding solace in the fact that she won't BE replaced & would love the worldwide outpouring of affection from those who loved her when they heard the news."
