The mother of Tyler Trent, the Purdue superfan who sadly passed away from cancer last week, has been the victim of murder threats, although the man in connection to those threats has been arrested.
In a statement from the Volusia County Sherriff's Office, John Matthew Pinkham was arrested for making the threats online on Trent's mom's Facebook page. Pinkham had been making the posts under the name "Julie Homan" and was eventually discovered by police.
"Funerals coming and I will appear like the reaper,” Pinkham posted on the page. “just wait until yall hear what I do at his funeral..i promise I will make headlines..i will kill his mother.. just watch I will be talked about forever..this is no idol threat.”
You probably remember Tyler Trent thanks to his inspiring story which showed people the meaning of perseverance when faced with extreme adversity. He has an autobiography coming out called The Upset which will see some of the proceeds go to cancer research. Trent had a goal of raising $1 million.
Trent's funeral is being held today (January 8th) and for those who want to pay respects, it will be livestreamed here.
