Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz will host the Miami Heat tonight as Dwyane Wade makes his final appearance in Salt Lake City as an NBA player. Of course, D-Wade won't be leaving town without a proper tribute.
Last night, on the eve of Wade's "Last Dance" with the Jazz, Mitchell hosted a farewell dinner in conjunction with Stance Socks, as both Heat and Jazz players paid respect to Flash. As seen in the photos posted by Jazz reporter Eric Woodyard, Wade didn't go home empty handed either; Mitchell made sure to hook the old timer up with a rocking chair.
The Jazz and Heat recently did battle in Miami which ended with Wade canning two clutch free throws to secure a 102-100 win. After the game, Mitchell and Wade swapped jerseys, and the 22-year old star spoke about how surreal it was to share the floor with one of his idols.
“To be honest with you, that was surreal,” Mitchell told reporters in the locker room afterward, according to NBA.com. “You can’t really think about it in the game but to look back at it, you’re playing against your idol essentially. I talked to him many times this summer about his career, his habits off the floor. That was a special moment.”
