Play as the cartel or the cops.

For those of you, dear HNHH readers, who listen hip-hop and watch shows like Narcos, wishing you could feel what it's like to be the people actually moving weight and cutting bricks, look no further. Now you can be the cartel in the upcoming Narcos: Rise Of The Cartels. However, if you're more the straight laced type, you can also play as the DEA, catching criminals from the comfort of your own home.

The developer Curve Digital has been talking about a Narcos game for months now, but it took until today to get the full details of what's to come. The game will be called Narcos: Rise Of The Cartels and is set for release in the third quarter of 2019. So far, other than the trailer of the game, we don't have much information to go on about the actual experience other than the quote from Curve Digital's tweet: it's a "brutal, turn-based action strategy game following the events of the hit show."

The announcement of the game could not be more serendipitous in terms of cartel buzz. The trial of the most notorious drug lord since Pablo Escobar, El Chapo, just started in New York and is shaping up to me more outlandish and entertaining than any TV show could be. The New York Times described one of the witnesses' testimony:

His account was delivered in a gritty style that might be described as narco-Gothic. He gave the jury an insider’s view of well-known crimes in Mexico, including the murder of a Roman Catholic cardinal, a blood bath in a Puerto Vallarta nightclub and the assassination of a competing trafficker, who was shot in the neck.
