When Netflix acquired Millarworld, the comic book world scratched its head. Millarworld is a comic book publishing company that was created by Mark Millar. Millar is one of the most popular comic book creators and authors. He brought the world the bullet-bending assassins in Wanted and the lovable hero in Kick-Ass. He is also responsible for Wolverine: Old Man Logan and Civil War, two comic book stories that were adapted to the big screen in the last few years. Millar and Netflix teamed up to create a new comic book, and the streaming site recently released a promotional trailer for the six-issue series.
Entitled The Magic Order, the new Netflix/Millar collaboration is based on five families of magicians who must protect themselves from a mysterious villain who is picking them off one by one. Millar's writing style is famous for its twists and gut-wrenching plots, and readers should expect a more mature story. According to Hypebeast, Millar wrote a letter to comic retailers stating, “We want to get back to that crazy, exciting time where a first printing really meant something too and create a real collectibility here with NO SECOND PRINTINGS. We love the idea of making this genuinely sought after. So after inventory on the first and only print run is depleted, there will be no additional printings. That said, we’re very, very sure this is going to sell out.”
The Magic Order hits bookstores and comic book shops on June 13.
