Any movie that was a hit in the 80's is coming back around in some form. On Wednesday (May 30), Cruise took to social media to share the first official picture from the set of Top Gun: Maverick. In the picture, Maverick stands on a deck while looking at his F-14A Tomcat. The caption "Feel the need" is sprawled across the center of the picture, which is a nod to the famous line from the first film, “I feel the need, the need for speed.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel will follow Maverick and his crew as they deal with new technology. The creation of drones is making the use of pilots obsolete. Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion, TRON: Legacy) is set to direct the film which is slated to hit theaters on July 12, 2019.
