Netflix's upcoming comedy will star Tia Mowry and Grey's Anatomy actress Loretta Devine to tell the tale of free-spirited mother Cocoa McKellan who heads to Georgia for a family reunion that she and her husband and kids didn't know they needed.
"We look forward to bringing families together to enjoy the hilarious and heartwarming stories of this multigenerational American family living together and discovering the importance of connecting with their roots,” VP of kids and family content at Netflix, Melissa Cobb, told The Hollywood Reporter. “Meg DeLoatch has created a warm, funny and memorable extended family that we believe will resonate with audiences around the world and she has assembled an incredibly talented all-black writers' room to authentically portray these characters and their journey.”
Family Reunion is helmed by Meg DeLoatch who also worked on Netflix's Fuller House. There's no word on when the 20-episode series will be available for streaming on Netflix but we suspect an early 2019 release.
