A source close to Jimmy Butler has supposedly leaked information to the press regarding his future with the Timberwolves organization. It has been reported that Butler's discontent is being the roused by a lack of professionalism exhibited by his teammates and not by management's inability to build a cohesive team around him.
Rumors persist ahead of the expiration date of his contract, as to where he'll end up. The latest scoop out of Butler's camp seems to indicate a willingness to join LeBron James in Los Angeles. We'd already heard the report out of NY indicating that Butler was keen on shaking hands with Kyrie Irving, especially now that Jayson Tatum has cemented himself as a linchpin in the Celtic's offence.
Most NBA fans believe Butler will opt out of his player option next season which guarantees him just under $20 million in salary. If the veteran swingman were to become an unrestricted free agent he would more than likely command a max contract in excess of $30 million, annually. Of course, a lot can happen between now and then, but in all likelihood Jimmy Butler does seem overly attached to the idea of joining well established talent elsewhere. Ever since the final years in Chicago, Butler has declared himself in "win now mode." Competition is a helluva drug.
