Janelle Monae is making serious strides in her music career since landing two nominations for this year's Grammy Awards for Album of the Year (Dirty Computer) and Best Music Video for "Pynk." The successful artist is also owning it in the film world with previous roles in 2016's Moonlight and Hidden Figures.
Janelle has now signed on to act in another anticipated flick, Deadline reports, joining Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander in Gloria Steinem's biopic, The Glorias: A Life On The Road. Gloria is a social-political activist, journalist and feminist who was recognized for her work in the late 1960s and early 1970s for her strides in the American feminist movement. The film will cover some of her groundbreaking moments throughout her career and will see Julianne and Alicia star as Gloria at different stages of her life.
“When I was working on filming Moonlight and filming Hidden Figures, I was working on my album, The Dirty Computer, and putting together what I wanted the visual piece to look like,” Janelle previously told PEOPLE when discussing her many creative avenues. “I’ve never stopped creating on the music side.”
The Glorias: A Life on the Road has yet to have a release date, but we can only assume it will be one of many endeavours Janelle works on.
