Award season has started and the first one (The Golden Globes) took place last night in Los Angeles calling on some of the hottest actors and actresses to strut down a red carpet and receive a shiny award. Black Panther, A.K.A. one of the most beloved films of 2018 was nominated in three categories: Best Picture Drama, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song for "All the Stars" by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
Despite the high chance of just scoring one win, the Ryan Coogler directed film sadly pulled in zero.
We can't say for sure how the cast of the film is feeling, but we do know that the fans aren't so happy about the turnout.
"I find it very humorous that whenever a movie depicts black people as slaves or just being suppressed/oppressed, that we get these standing ovations from the Acadamey & Golden Globes, but when we’re shown in a positive light (i.e. superheros/kings/queens) we get snubbed," one user wrote.
"It’s not fair that white people can do the bare minimum (not saying that Bohemian Rhapsody is bad) & get all this praise and glory from these award shows, & black people have to subjugate themselves in playing characters who are usually being demeaned just to get half the credit."
