Kendrick Lamar is among forty four people invited to become a member of the music branch of Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, Variety reports. It's a major move for Kendrick Lamar and with the success of Black Panther: The Album, he's undoubtedly a great fit for the position. The music branch itself is invited to composers, writers and music editors. In addition to K. Dot, Melissa Etheridge, Sufjan Stevens, Carlinhos Brown and Benoit Charest also received invites.
Kendrick's received some major recognition this year aside from the invite to the movie academy. The rapper became the first non-jazz or non-classical artist to win the Pulitzer Prize for music. In addition, the rapper also walked away with the Top Rap Song at the ASCAP awards this past weekend.
