Kanye West fans have had to go through a lot this year. His supporters have been behind him through thick and thin and for many, this was a tough year to defend him. Some went so far as to "cancel" him, which is becoming an ever-popular culture in 2018. In our hearts, we knew he would turn around. There just wasn't something entirely consistent about what he was claiming. Kim Kardashian has come out as somewhat of a "translator" for Kanye's rhetoric, explaining why he chose to back Donald Trump and admitting that her husband is severely misunderstood.
In interviews, you can tell that there's a lot going on in Kanye's mind. He has a lot to say and he may not be the best communicator these days. Kim spoke with CNN's Van Jones at Variety and Rolling Stone's Criminal Justice Reform Summit, explaining that he was never really behind Trump's politics.
"I feel like he’s very misunderstood and the worst communicator," said the reality star. "But, when we talk about it, we have very similar politics. He’s very not political, actually, he just happens to like Donald Trump's personality, but doesn’t know about the politics. So, I’ve educated him recently. I think it gets really misconstrued. He will always say he was friendly with him before, and he’s the same person and friendly with him now. I could also co-exist with someone and still have different political views. My mom and my step-dad did that. It’s fine to be different and have your own view."
She went on to say that what Ye is fighting for is the right to like what he wants to like. It goes back to months ago when he began his campaign against the "thought police." Hopefully, Kim continues to make sense of what Kanye actually wants to say.
