Kelly Clarkson defeated the odds when she won the first ever season of American Idol. She continued to defy the odds throughout her career, remaining relevant longer than any other Idol winner. Now, Clarkson is taking her talents to daytime television. As reported by The Wrap, Clarkson will star on her own daytime talk show entitled The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The daytime talk show will run for one hour, and will lead-in to Ellen on NBC-owned stations in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Miami, San Diego, and Hartford. “I love connecting with people, playing games, music and finding ways to help or give back to communities/organizations,” Clarkson said in a statement. “Having my own talk show where I get to do all of these things is pretty much a dream job!”
“We are very excited to have Kelly Clarkson on our air next fall,” stated President of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations Valari Staab. “She’s genuine, warm, fun and interacts with her fans in a meaningful way. Throughout her career people of all ages and backgrounds have related to her openness, honesty, and curiosity. She will be the perfect companion to Ellen, providing an afternoon of great television.”
