Cardi B expands on her decision to not perform at the Super Bowl halftime.

Cardi B most recently decided to open up some more about her reservations when she ended up turning down the opportunity to perform during the Super Bowl halftime set. On Sunday, fans can expect to watch Travis Scott, Maroon 5 and Big Boi take the stage for the iconic halftime performance, but before these acts became the Super Bowl's headliners, Cardi B was among several of the acts who passe don the NFL's proposition.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Cardi admitted that she had "mixed feelings" about turning it down due to the amount of money that was involved, but in consideration of Colin Kaepernick's decision to stand by beliefs and kneel in honor of his community, she felt it was necessary to stand behind him.

She even added that Offset would not be going to the Super Bowl despite his affinity for the sport of football in showing of solidarity for Kaepernick as well.

"My husband, he loves football,” she says. “His kids play football. It’s really hard for him. He really wants to go to the Super Bowl, but he can’t go to the Super Bowl, because he’s got to stand for something [...] You have to sacrifice that. I got to sacrifice a lot of money to perform. But there’s a man who sacrificed his job for us, so we got to stand behind him.”

Despite her decision to sit the Super Bowl out, Cardi B has still managed to collect her check on various opportunities directly related to the Super Bowl, including an appearance in the Pepsi Super Bowl commercial while also headlining several events including Bud Light's official Super Bowl Music Festival. Her decision to partake in such gigs has brought up the legitimacy of her support of Kaepernick among critics and in the same interview, she addressed such concerns as well,

“I hear people saying like ‘Oh, y’all are saying all this stuff about the Super Bowl, but you’re doing all these parties,’” she said. “And it’s like, well, if the NFL could benefit off from us, then I’m going to benefit off y’all. Y’all make the most money off our people. Why am I not going to take advantage of y’all and take money from y’all too? Because of y’all, we are getting these parties. OK, thank you.”
