If you watched Jennifer Lopez's MTV VMA performance, then you probably remember hearing Big Freedia's voice saying “I wanna know who mothafuckin' representin' in here tonight" in the background. It's the same line that's featured on Drake's beat "Nice For What," and the same way Freedia felt snubbed by not being in Drizzy's video, she also felt snubbed since J Lo and MTV never told her that they would be using her famous line at the award show.
Freedia told Billboard that she's honoured to have been included in Jennifer's memorable performance, but it would have been a respectable move to have been told prior. “JLo is the queen and was lit at the VMAs,” she said. “I’m always honored to see my music and New Orleans Bounce make its way into mainstream culture.”
She added: “I had no idea about it and saw it as it was happening, like everyone else. Would have been nice for MTV to have given me or my team a heads-up beforehand." Back when Drake was the first to snub her, she told Fader: “People want to use bounce music as a part of their music but when it comes to the proper recognition of me being in the video, that's something that we're steady working towards to make it happen."
