Those familiar with the battle rap scene will no doubt recognize the name Tsu Surf. Regarded as a legend in some circles, Surf held it down on both the battle and mixtape circuits; Drake even threw him a co-sign of sorts, jokingly reminding Murda Mook "you gotta beat Surf first before you get to me." Unfortunately, Surf was recently hospitalized after being shot multiple times, according to The Source. Citing social media reports, it would appear that Surf was rushed to the emergency room after being shot, where he ultimately went in for surgery.
Luckily, the reports indicate that Surf is currently in stable condition, with his manager providing updates via Twitter. "The strong survive," he writes. "I appreciate everyone reaching out to me and checking on the situation. Everything is ok considering the circumstances. Surf is in surgery. He will pull thru. Just another day in Newark. I Appreciate everyone who’s showing concern. My boy a survivor! Expect more pain in his music. This is the life we go thru to make it to the TOP!!"
As of now, the details surrounding the shooting remain scarce; it's unclear what motivated this, although The Source indicates that Surf was previously affiliated with Newark's Rolling 60’s Crips. Suspects have yet to be identified. Prayers out to Tsu Surf.
