"The Equalizer 2" looks brutal.

It's been four years since Denzel Washington played Robert McCall in Antoine Fuqua's action thriller The Equalizer. Washington and Fuqua have collaborated several times in their careers, most notably on the classic Training Day. The duo is back for a sequel to The Equalizer, which will also be the first sequel that Denzel has done. You read that correctly. Denzel Washington has finally given into acting in sequels.

In a new trailer for The Equalizer 2, Denzel is a peaceful Lyft driver... at first. After taking down the Russian Mafia, Denzel's character McCall decides to keep his ear to the street. Being a Lyft driver would be a great way keep his eyes on his neighboorhood, something McCall does with ease. After a group of wealthy young men have him drive an assaulted young lady home, McCall returns to their residence to teach them why taking advantage of a lady is never the right thing to do. After beating the group of men to a bloody pulp, and also using a hilariously violent Star Trek reference to break one of the offender's hands, the trailer continues to highlight McCall's pension for brutal revenge. The best thing about The Equalizer was that Denzel plays a vigilante of sorts, but it never felt like a superhero flick. Check out the new trailer below. The Equalizer 2 hits theaters on July 20.
