Not everyday a team fires a coach after a 22-point win.

The Minnesota Timberwolves demolished the LeBron-less Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday by a score of 108-86. It was a 22-point victory that was needed considering the T-Wolves are 19-21 and sit outside of a playoff spot. Despite the win though, the Timberwolves fired head coach and president Tom Thibodeau just moments after the game.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, team CEO Ethan Casson and general manager Scott Layden walked into Thibodeau's office and fired him on the spot. In the report, it is stated that the coach had no idea the move was coming.

"We would like to thank Tom for his efforts and wish him all the best," T-Wolves owner Glen Taylor said in a statement. "These decisions are never easy to make, but we felt them necessary to move our organization forward."

Wojnarowski said in his report that Thibodeau and Casson had a rocky relationship and that Casson has always wanted a coach who worked better with the business side of the team. As of right now, it looks as though Ryan Saunders will take Thibodeau's place as head coach.

Chauncey Billups and former Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg are being tossed around as potential candidates to be the next head coach of the team, according to ESPN.
