Jamie Foxx is about to get real dark for his next film.

Jamie Foxx is set to host the upcoming BET Awards for the second time and he's also secured another gig under his belt for a lethal superhero movie. According to Deadline, comic book creator Todd McFarlane will be making his directorial debut for the film Spawn based on the comic character he created.

Jamie will play Al Simmons A.K.A. Spawn who is a member of the CIA black ops team. His team betrays him and has him killed by getting burned alive, when he goes to Hell he is offered the opportunity to see his wife but only if he becomes a Hellspawn warrior. He agrees, but once returning to reality his wife has moved on with his best friend and he's stuck in a shell of a demonic creature. He then finds himself in battles that involve Heaven, Hell, and Earth.

Todd tells the publication that he wants Spawn to be a man of few words. “The scariest movies, from Jaws to John Carpenter’s The Thing, or The Grudge and The Ring, the boogeyman doesn’t talk,” Todd explained. “It confuses people because of the comic book industry, and because they all default into their Captain America mindset and I keep saying, no, get into John Carpenter’s mindset or Hitchcock. This is not a man in a rubber suit, it’s not a hero that’s going to come and save the damsel. It’s none of that. At the end of the movie, I’m hoping that the audience will say either, is this a ghost that turns into a man, or is it a man that turns into a ghost? I’ve got a trilogy in mind here, and I’m not inclined in this first movie to do an origin story. I’m mentally exhausted from origin stories."
