It's been fifteen years since Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore powered the Charlie's Angels franchise. Yes, that "Independent Woman" Destiny's Child music video is that old already. The crime-fighting divas are heading back into theaters next year, with a new cast taking on the roles of the world's sexiest spies.
According to Variety, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska are set to star as the Angels in the upcoming reboot of the franchise. Stewart is most famous for her role in the Twlight series, while Scott will become the next Disney princess in the live action Aladdin film next year. Balinska is a British actress that will be making her biggest film appearance in Charlie's Angels.
Elizabeth Banks is set to direct the film. She will also play the mysterious Bosley. “Charlie’s Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the ’70s,” Banks stated. “This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels. I couldn’t be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi, and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world.” Charlie's Angels hits theaters on September 27, 2019.
