It was recently announced that Netflix was launching a reality-based hip-hop competition called Rhythm + Flow, in which aspiring artists aim to land their big break. The streaming giant has already announced the three judges, including T.I, Chance The Rapper, and Cardi B. Sadly, Cardi found herself contending with her more vocal haters, who immediately took to questioning her qualifications. Still, Cardi's record speaks for itself, and she took a moment to break it down for the skeptics.
"I'm looking for the diamond in the rough. I'm looking for somebody that's gonna stick. I'm looking for somebody that when I go to my car, I'm gonna remember their music, I'm gonna remember their face, I'm gonna remember their personality," explains Cardi. "A lot of people can spit, but they can't make music and they can't stick to the GP. That's why people don't listen to their music because they just don't have that 'it' factor."
Cardi continues, taking a second to address some of the skeptics, who took issue with her newly appointed position. "I'm looking for that 'it' factor. And I don't give a f*ck if you don't think I'm qualified as a judge. Bitch, I make good f*cking music. You know my name and you know my motherf*cking records, right bitch? I make hits, hits, hits, hits, hits, hits, hits." She pelvic thrusts her final point for added emphasis.
As of now, the general direction of Rhythm + Flow appears to be, in its most basic form, a rap-oriented take on the American Idol formula. It also marks a daring step for Netflix, who are looking to expand their foothold on the "unscripted" market; generally, shows of this nature thrive off audience participation.
